What is Yap?
Yap uses the speech APIs in macOS 26 to transcribe speech locally and paste it into the active text field through a configurable hotkey. No model download is required. Built by Frigade in native Swift, the free MIT-licensed app is about 4 MB, contains roughly 3,000 lines of code, and uses around 60 MB of memory while idle.
